Maureen and Chris are changing their plans for 2020

Clearly Covid-19 has the potential to define 2020 and possibly this decade.  Our personal plans and strategy will be hugely affected.  As some of our friends and family already know, our decision to make the journey from Australia to UK has been under review for a while.  Today the news is that the UK government may quarantine over 70’s for much of the summer, and I have just realised that includes us!  When added to what we already know about the consequences of infection being more serious for our generation, we know we need to change how we operate for the next few months.

Unfortunately this will lead to much reduced direct social contact for us as for many others. Maureen and I are already partly self-isolating, including avoiding public gatherings, restaurants, classes and fun runs.  The situation remains fluid here in Sydney and also overseas but our current personal policy and practice involves:

  1. Deferring international travel
  2. Avoiding entertainment and conference gatherings
  3. Limiting contact to necessary visits only and with family
  4. Increasing online and other remote social connection
  5. Generally following government advice on prevention.

This may mean we do not get to see you as soon as was hoped.  However, there are signs from China and Korea that things will change eventually.  Meanwhile, lets…

…panicking

Tuesday Morning in Abberley

We had a nice day out with the Males at the Tenbury agricultural show on Saturday and also played golf with Rod and Annette yesterday. We had a buggy which Mum drove with Annette and they had a good chat.
Mum is doing well although prone to getting tired. We are going to the doctor next week for a cortisone injection in the left hip because of the bursitis.  Mum is feeling it on both sides now though so we do not know if they will do two at once. We are both hoping Mum will walk more if this can be fixed.
